NAGNATA PRESENTS FUTURE MOVEMENTS SHOW

Nagnata presents 'Future Movements' with a dynamic presentation of film, movement and fashion, held at the Sydney Modern, Art Gallery of NSW.

Representing the spirit of the brand, the evening showcased a culmination of artistic collaborators with a cinematic visual journey, filmed in Maheshwar, India. The celebration marks ten years since Nagnata began working with artisans in India, honouring the early work that has inspired and informed much of the brand's ethos.

Embodying Nagnata’s celebration of movement, the presentation opens with a dance performance choreographed by NON Artistic Director Davide Giovanni. Leading Indian stylist and creative director Kshitj Kankaria was flown out exclusively to style the runway featured alongside a projection of 'looms and landscapes', lensed by Indian film maker Avani Rai

Working closely with our cresondo of creative collaborators, an origin story is unravelled, of roots that have taken firm ground, and its natural progression into a sprawling, bursting foliage of the future.

Reflecting our fluid approach to seasonality the show is a preview of upcoming capsule collections including the new Swim Surf Sport line and ready-to-wear offerings.

Swimwear is introduced to the runway for the first time, with a new Surf Swim Sport capsule designed as an evolution of the brands’ movement wear collections. The line is a play on Nagnata’s signature colour block styles, with a sports-meet-fashion aesthetic, made from a specialised Italian recycled bonded fabric that offers durability and support to take you from studio to surf.

In its own landscape of individuality, Nagnata discovers the transient lifestyle of a new age mover. Elevated in its casual layering, this urban uniform references a well packed Nagnata wardrobe invoking a refined studio to street look.

Reimagined outerwear silhouettes were introduced, offering knit structured ingenuity, whilst custom check wool and recycled nylon weaves into energetic windbreakers, bomber jackets and saturated lava art in woollen vests; an intention of the brand’s now fully fledged ready-to-wear offering. Synonymous with Nagnata, a statement-making colour palette inspired by the elemental hues of lavender, chartreuse, clay and sand featured across 40 genderless looks.

Nagnata returned to its roots and collaborated with Women Weave to reimagine the early woven textiles made from organic cottons and natural dyes, creating versatile styling pieces for the new age nomad.

"In the decade that passed, movement travelled from the artisan’s fingertips to the science of fabric. It coursed through consciousness and lent mobility to the physical form. It made a nomad of man, and caused the seas to rise and fall." - We present to you Nagnata Future Movements.
